Committed? Not By a Long Shot

Elizabeth Gilbert is once again a married woman, and she has written a rather lengthy memoir in order to explain why.  In Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage, Gilbert explains her unexpected (and unconventional) road to marriage – and it is startling.  From her view of marriage – a concept with which she has had to make “peace” – she finds marriage to be fully in keeping with her affirmation of “me-ness.”  As her memoir displays, our society increasingly views marriage as one-sided and self-fulfilling.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler observes what Gilbert’s book indicates about how modern culture views marriage.  Without understanding and experiencing the selfless love of Christ, truly understanding marriage is ultimately impossible.
